I want to study Architecture on the Manchester School of Architecture, because I would like to develop my creativity as well as have an opportunity to materialize it. I would like to face my perception of architecture with your approach to this topic and discuss my ideas with other students. I would love to be surrounded by visionary people, learn from them about different aspects of architecture and make the most out of my work in your well-equipped workshops. I am also keen to visit Manchester. I would love to experience the wide range of cultural and creative places and experience city’s the traditional and vibrant architecture.

Recently I have visited an exhibition entitled 'Wild at Heart. Portrait and self Portrait in Poland after 1989' in the 'Zachęta' Museum. One of the key stimuli of shaping our reality of this period was the mass emigration of Polish people. The borders of our country were free to cross, so people had the opportunity to confront the stereotype of a Pole abroad and form a vision of themselves. The exhibition contained of various types of art. There were photographs (Bernard), film stills (Żuławski), and abstract paintings (
Themerson). In my opinion the exhibition was very interesting. It showed a vision of a Pole from different perspectives. Some works portrayed attributes of wealth, and some the eponymous wildness of the heart. It made me reflect on how nowadays Polish people see themselves and what stereotypes are actually true.

My favourite building is the Museum of Polish Jews 'POLIN' situated in Warsaw and designed by Rainer Mahlamäki. I have had the opportunity to visit it a couple of times and every time it made a huge impression on me. It is an cuboid form made of glass. It is very monumental, but somehow blends into the surroundings. There is a huge contrast between the interior and the outside. When you walk through the door, you see a lot of curved walls, everything in warm tones. The walls resemble water and it makes me want to touch them every time I’m there. They whole interior looks inviting.

A building I would like to experience in person is the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. It has been built last year and since then I am very keen to visit it. It  is situated under a very complex roof, resembling a roof of an Arabic dome. It is made out of many geometrical forms and has a lot holes in it, so the sunlight comes through. What made a huge impression on me is the interior. I have never seen a building where light plays such a big role. I would love to see it.
